The PMC280 – The Professional DJ Mixer From Vestax
The Vestax PMC280 is an advanced 4-Channel DJ Mixer that features 16 effects with adjustable parameters. The PMC280 features a professional DSP effects unit that contains the variety to suit all DJ styles. The DSP’s impressive sampling rate of 24-bit 96kHz provides the mixer with the instant response that is critical for effective DJing.
The Vestax PMC280 has a variety of input and output options through the rear interface. With regards to output – the PMC280 contains two available options for master output, two sets of RCA outputs and one set of XLR outputs. Two separate microphone inputs are controlled by programming one or two channels on the top of the mixer. Located at channels 1 & 4 are the Phono inputs that allow two turntables to be connected. The Vestax PMC280 has six line inputs, with two on channels 2 and 3 and one line input on channels 1 and 4. The line input on channel 4 can also be modified to be USB compatible in an optional upgrade.
Located on the top of the mixer is the full effects-control layout of the Vestax PMC 280. The PMC 280 has 16 individual effects each with two separate parameters for extra control and diversity. The light-up tap effector allows the DJ to control the rhythm of the effect and helps with sound shaping. The cue area for track selection is located above the headphone jack, the channel cues are all available to the far right of the mixer and a fifth cue button for the effector tap is also included. Each channel has a full EQ setup with trim knobs at the top and a backlit display for sound monitoring.
With minimal colour used for indicators, knobs and buttons against a mirrored black finish, the Vestax PMC280 is a stylishly sleek in appearance. This colour scheme actually makes it easier to DJ in dark areas due to the light-up options and placement of all instruments. The Vestax PMC280 is easy to transport due to its compact nature.

What are all these input/outputs for (Echo Audiofire 4)?
I am looking to buy this Echo Audiofire 4 FireWire interface, but I want to know how I will use it first. On the front I see there are 2 XLR/instrument inputs, but am not sure what the two trim knobs do. Also, on the back, what are those 6 in/outs for on the right? Would those be for like studio monitor connections or what? And lastly, what would you use the MIDI in/out for?
Thanks.
Here's a picture of the front and back of it.

I am not familiar with the specific device in question,
but I can give you some general info:
The "trim" knobs are input attenuators, intended to reduce
signal levels that are high enough to cause distortion.
The in/out jacks are probably "loops" similar to the
tape deck connections on a home receiver.
These would be used for processors and/or equalizers.
MIDI denotes Musical Instrument Digital Interface,
which is used for many, many purposes.
Check Wikipedia and elsewhere for more on this.
Read the owner's manual; it should explain a lot about
how to connect and use the device with other things.
