I want to record my drums at home?
So im thinking about getting some equipment to record my drums and put songs over it too upload to youtube. now im going to be getting
Fast Track Ultra USB 2.0-http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0017H9F1K/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&m=A3LJ5WMKNRFKQS
Shure PGDMK6-XLR Drum Microphone Kit with XLR-XLR Cable-http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002BAC9Q/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER
PEAVEY PEAVEY 8 CH USB MIXING BOARD - PV8USB-http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002CWO10E/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?ie=UTF8&m=AA8WLQ8V5Y8YB
and some XLR cables and use Audocity as my software. is this all i need?
Thanks!
Oh yeah, you are going to need a DAW. I'm not sure if the fastrack comes with M-Powered version of pro tools (which is crossgradable to pro tools 9), but you could find some deals at sweetwater or guitarcenter that package the interface with pro tools 9 (which is way better then pro tools 8 LE or M-powered, so try to get 9 or you'll kick your self in the ass once you start getting into recording).
Also, if you want to just fart around with recordings then a fastrack is fine, but if you really want to start learning how to record drums (which is the most important part to get to sound good that makes or breaks an album) then you should look into an interface that has more inputs. I started off on the Tascam US 1641 after months of research and was very happy. It usually comes with Cubase 4 LE which is okay for beginers and will deffinately get you interested and be able to produce pretty nice recordings.
http://www.amazon.com/Tascam-US1641-Interface-digital-Connection/dp/B000X2T5EM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1308438752&sr=8-1
Those sure mics are okay for a beginer too, but down the road you'll want to get the audix kit with the i5's and D6. But that's down the road, and those sure mics are along the same quality as the tascam interface.
If your buying all of that equiptment then screw Audocity. You'll want to get into the good DAW's. That's kind of like having a 2002 Honda Accord with a lawnmower engine.
