Flying Snakes Susceptible To Department Of Defense Study
Snakes have a way of creeping into people's nightmares. This is a fact that Indiana Jones would never dispute. But flying snakes? Hand them over to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency for study. You will find flying snakes in southeast Asia. The Chrysopelea ornata (ornate flying snake) may just have military utility. These flying snakes live in trees and have a propensity for major glide time. According to the Washington Post, it is this gliding ability that has prompted Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to throw money at Virginia Tech so that researchers can decode this secret of nature. Flying snakes defying laws
Scientists have observed that most animals with the ability to glide in air accomplish this with fixed wings or body parts that resemble wings, but these flying snakes do something entirely different. Snakes of the Chrysopelea genus undulate from side to side in what looks like a mid-air slither. So far scientists have witnessed these snakes gliding over 800 feet in length and 200 feet in height. ”They become on long wing,” is how Virginia Tech researcher John Socha describes this phenomenon.
Directional changes also
Scientists are still confused by one part of the Chrysopelea ornata’s glide. They take a leap and fall to gain speed, then out of nowhere change directions. The National Geographic society had been sponsoring the snakes research until this new maneuver had been found. At this point DARPA took over, who is more interested in military technology. DARPA won’t reveal much about what they're doing further than that they have great interest within the, “physical dynamics of snake flight.” A human won’t be hurt by the venom of these snakes, but the venom will kill small animals like lizards.
The origin of the flying snake
Scientists believe that birds evolved from dinosaurs - which were reptiles - so the concept of flying snakes may not be outlandish. Flying snakes might have actually impacted the way ancient humans thought. The flying feathered snake deity Quetzalcoatl of Aztec mythology created humankind. That's not so evil, is it, Indiana Jones?.

How much would an Erasmus in Paris cost?
My course has just been changed to have an Erasmus which I'm thinking of doing next year in Paris.
I'm wondering how much money I'd need for the year?
I get the grant and maintainence here and imagine I'd get the Earsmus grant too.
I dont drink, smoke or go to nightclubs so my only real expenses would be food, flights and utilities
(Flight would be from Dublin to Paris and vice versa)
Also if anyone has done it do you automatically live on campus or did you have to find your own place?
Try to find a place to live by your own, I think campus are not the best option. I answer to a similar question last summer, an Erasmus student had to go to a campus situated in a not safe place, Porte de Clignancourt / Barbes, not only the neighbourhood is not safe but reviews from former students were really bad : dirty place, terribly noisy etc. So, if possible, start looking for accommodation soon.
The cost of living in Paris is not cheap. See the prices at a supermarket http://courses.monoprix.fr/Layer_Accueil/index.html
