What settings do I set my Samson C03U USB Condensor Microphone to for Vocals not music?
I am a voice actor and I voice for animation on youtube. I have this professional mic, which is the Samson C03U USB Multi-pattern Microphone. I kind of switched up the settings by accident, while messing around with the mic. It has little switches on it, and I have no idea how to set it back, like one of the switches say -10dB and theres alot more switches. The question is how do I set it so it only records the person in front of the mic only! Like for cartoons, you only here there voices. I want to do that. But how? 10 points to person that helps me resolve this problem.
Basically the defaults are :
If you have it where the -10db is ---- then the default is 0 basically by having it at 0, it doesn't reduce the mic's amplification basically how load it is - by setting it to -10db you will need to get closer to the mic in order for the sound to record well. This can be good for noisy rooms and can help cut out unwanted noise.
The button next to it the 2 lines and one is bent the default is the bent one. This help you to try and cut unwanted noise.
below those switches there is the other switch which has 3 options - the circle = omnidirectional and is good for recording the ambience of your surroundings and picks up other noises besides your voice. The middle one is for recording your voice i.e one person and is good for podcasting the figure 8 is for recording a conversation between 2 people. but the default is the middle switch which is for just one voice and I think that is what you will need to set it at for recording your voice. Use the other switches i.e -10b and the lines to help you reduce noise around you if you need to.
