Baked Cheesecake with Strawberry Glace
There's nothing like a delicious piece of cheesecake to mark the end of a good meal. Here's a great recipe I'd like to share with you. It's a baked strawberry cheesecake recipe from page 13 of my cookbook 91 Cheesecake Recipes.
Crust
1 1/2 c graham cracker crumbs
2 T sugar
2 T melted butter
Filling
20 ounce (2-1/2 pkgs - 8 ounce each) softened cream cheese
1 c sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
3 eggs, beaten
Topping
1 cup mashed strawberries
1 cup sugar
3 T cornstarch
1/3 cup water
Mix cracker crumbs with sugar and melted butter. Press on to the bottom of a 9" springform pan. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes in preheated oven. Remove from oven and let cool on a wire rack.
Whip the cream cheese until smooth using electrical mixer or food processor. Beat in the sugar gradually. Add the beaten eggs and vanilla. Pour over the pre-baked graham craker crust in the springform pan.
Bake at 300 for an hour or until the center has set. Remove from oven and let cool on a wire rack.
Strawberry Glace
Blend the sugar and cornstarch together in a small saucepan. Stir in water and strawberries, then cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and begins to boil. Let boil one minute, stirring constantly. Let the glace cool completely and then spread it over the cooled cheesecake.
Refrigerate for at least 3 hours before serving.
How To Make Great Cheesecake
Here's some additional tips you can use to make your cheesecake a success:
To soften cream cheese means to leave it in room temperature to let it get softer than refrigerated. It's fine to let it reach room temperature as long as you don't leave it out too long.
You can prevent a cheesecake from cracking by running a thin knife around the edge, between the crust and the pan, just after removing the cake from the oven.
If you use a springform pan, don't remove the sides of the pan before the cake has cooled completely. Then refrigerate before serving.
You can cut a soft cheesecake into perfect slices using dental floss instead of a regular knife. Make sure you have penty of unflavored, unwaxed dental floss before you start.
Saw your way down through the cheesecake, using lots of sawing motion and pressure when cutting through the crust, then let go of one end and pull the floss out from the other end. Don't bring it back to the top, it would just make a mess.
Change floss, and wash or wipe hands often to avoid it being slippery.
When slicing with a knife, the knife should have a long and thin blade to make clean cuts. Remember to dip the knife in warm water and clean the blade between each slice. That way the slices gets a nice and clean cut without crushing the cake.
What is a healthier option when drinking alcohol?
I am trying to be healthy and I want to drink this weekend. I know beer and stuff like that is high in carbs. What is a healthy option? (eg mixers, pre mix, spirits etc.)
And yes I know not drinking is a healthier option! But i would like to drink this weekend and would like to stay healthy and not drink beer or something high in sugar
i know drinking is not healthy! im not stupid but i would like to drink this weekend! Im not confusing health with calories! i am very healthy and would like to drink something that is low in calories and is a healthier option!
You can quickly tell who's new to drinking when they say "Smirnoff tastes the best."
If you want to drink, yet you're worried about carbs (which is strange). Go with hard liquors. Rum, vodka, whisky. Can't go wrong with that triumvirate.
Rum, I suggest Appleton's rum.
Vodka, I suggest Luksosowa. It's what vodka should be.
Whisky, I suggest either Crown Royal or Wiser's (de Lux or Special, doesn't matter)
For a shooter, 1 ounce of Crown Royal and 1 ounce of Bailey's. Best shooter I've ever had. It's like having warm chocolate (or caramel) poured down your throat.
IK Multimedia introduces new iRig mic, mixer, and stompbox at CES (TUAW)
IK Multimedia is showing off new products in the North Hall of CES 2012 in Las
Vegas this week, and they were one of our first stops around the Las Vegas
Convention Center. IK Multimedia is behind the popular Amplitube software, and
has seen a lot of success with the iRig guitar port for iOS, and its followup,
the iRig mic.
In fact, given all of that success, IK is really going all out with the iRig
brand, introducing a slew of new products to both bring audio in and out of
iOS devices. The most impressive new tool on display at the show is the iRig
Mix, a mobile two-track mixer that's designed to work with your iPhone or
iPad. At its base, this is just a really solid mixer -- audio comes in via two
1/8" jacks at the top, and while those jacks are meant for iPad or iPhone
audio, they'll really work with any input of that kind. Each side of the mixer
has separate knobs for gain, treble, and bass, and of course either track can
be cued through another headphone jack at the bottom and buttons above ...
