About Condenser Microphones & Phantom Power?
i'm gonna get a condenser microphone that requires "Phantom Power" for a home recording and i can't get something that supply "phantom power" like mixers....ect. my question is
what i can get to give the microphone the phantom power that it needs directly from my pc something like an adapter or cable or something (that's not expensive)?
and i've heard that the USB condenser microphone quality is not as good as the normal condenser microphones, is this true?
thanks in advance
Hmmm... Some condenser mikes can use a battery for phantom power, but I'm guessing the one you're talking about isn't one of those. Some high-end condenser mikes come with an AC box that plugs into the wall that supplies the phantom power. I don't know if this applies to your mike or not. I think there may be stand-alone add-on phantom power-supply boxes. Your mike may or may not come with one. Check with whomever you're buying the mike from.
And yes, USB condenser mikes are generally not the same quality as a regular audio condenser mike, especially higher-end mikes.
Hope this helps.
The iRig PRE: A New Microphone Interface For iOS Devices (crunchgear?)
Jeez, CES is barely over and already NAMM is upon us. Unfortunately, this
blogger is not in Anaheim for that event, but to be honest, I am still reeling
from the few days I spent at CES with Team TechCrunch. Instead, I'll happily
watch the music industry event from a safe distance this year. I did however
spy the iRig PRE while I was at CES but it was not yet ready for prime time.
It has been officially announced.
