Starting A Female Betta Fish Sorority Tank
Equipment You'll Need
The first thing you need to do to initiate setting up a female betta fish sorority tank is to have a concept of how many female betta fish, or hens, you want in your sorority and at least an approximation of what you'd like the tank to look like when completed. This will help determine what size tank you will need. But first, you need to ensure that, once you add in your assembly of female betta fish, they have all the support systems already in place that they will need to flourish. Trust me, it is much easier to take your time and do it right and not cut corners than trying to fix mistakes in mid-stream (pun intended), or at worst, ending up with grievous disasters.
Some of the components can be spendy, but each one is just as significant as the next, so it can take some time to amass all of the essential pieces, depending on your budget. Below is a list of the hardware you'll need to start up your female betta fish planted sorority tank:
- Aquarium, of either glass or acrylic construction and appropriate size and style
- Tank stand or furniture capable of supporting the filled aquarium (remember, water is 8.3 lbs per gallon).
- A Canister Filter rated for your tank's specific size
- Canister filters, bio-media and carbon filter
- Spray bar kit
- Fluval intake cover sponge
- Extra hose and adaptor kits (depending on your tank's intended configuration)
- Light Strip outfitted with "grow" lights for plants, either LED, fluorescent or compact fluorescent. If the light isn't part of a hood or the aquarium cover, then you'll need:
- Glass top cover
- Heater with adjustable settings capable of heating the aquarium you've chosen
- Digital thermometer with min./max temperature alarms
- Power strip with surge protector
- Digital or mechanical timer for the light
- Magnetic algae scrubber
- Quarantine equipment (see the female betta fish webpage "Quarantine: Why and How" for details)
This is emphatically one of those projects that requires a lot of forethought and planning. Besides for envisioning what you'd like in your mind's eye, do a few sketches and certainly take the time to get a tape measure out and check the tank's future space. Also take note of how far away the nearest power outlet is. If you're able to spend some time in advance researching and shopping around, you can usually get the merchandise you want, plus save yourself a few bucks with store sales or online promotions. The more time you spend planning and stocking up on the parts that will make up the infrastructure of this future little planet, the less time you'll have to spend later on emergency runs across town to track down parts and pieces in the middle of your project.
Once you've made up your mind about the size and style of aquarium you'll want, make it your first purchase, then squirrel it away someplace safe. Physically having your aquarium will help you in buying all the subsequent parts, since you'll have all the specs and will be able to do test fits, modifications or other adjustments in advance, plus it prevents potential catastrophes, like planning your whole setup around an aquarium that, when you go to buy it, is out of stock or, even worse, discontinued. How should i hook up my Audio to my speaker system?
I have a video game that connects Video through VGA, and has one red and one white rca male plug. I am trying to connect the cables to the blue Line In on my computer's sound board. How should i connect it?: http://www.flickr.com/photos/35499154@N08/3402021897/
Method #1

(hook the game's red and white rca to the 3way adaptor and just use the other cable to extend the 3.5mm to the Lin In port of my computer)
Method #2:

(hook up my game's red and white rca to the female to female adaptor and then hook up the Belkin red and white rca cables to the female to female adaptor and plug the 3.5mm end of the Belkin cable to the Line In port on my computer sound board)
Which method will allow for most quality audio?
Maybe try the Belkin cables in your last picture !! They seem to look like good quality cables.. or maybe the 1st picture if needed --
