Planning a Trip to Spain – Some Essentials for the New Spain Voyager
Visiting another country for a vacation may be just the right thing you need to get away from the stress of your work, and at the same time discovering the way of life of a different country. A lot of people opt to head to another place outside the US because of the eventuality to learn new things and meet many people who have different cultures and values from them. Spain has become a traveller’s choice, and this isn’t surprising at all, particularly due to their rich heritage of art, literature, and culinary expertise.
The most important thing to take into account is being prepared for the language barrier that you will bump into the locals. Anyone can actually sign up for free language courses such as Rocket Spanish to be aware of the basics of the Spanish language. Rocket Spanish can help you learn the Spanish language as it employs various study methods for a very effective learning experience. All it takes is fire up a search engine and google for free online Spanish language courses.
Writing an itinerary can be useful in plotting your course around Spain, or around a certain city, if you’re only planning to spend your vacation in one hotel. Having an itinerary can minimize some of the perplexities accompanied with visiting a new place; knowing where to eat, what museums to go to, and planning your route according to their proximity to your hotel can save you much time, money, and energy.
It’s important to pick the most appropriate place of accommodation which doesn’t only mean that the price should be within your spending capacity, but it should also be located strategically. You can look up reviews from foreign travellers who have actually billeted on those hotels. There are more things to consider than just the price; the safety of the area, its proximity to the interesting places you want to explore, the accessibility of public transportation from the hotel, and similar other things to consider.
Talking about unpredictable circumstances, it’s also very important that you have a list of important emergency numbers both in Spain and your hometown. The last thing that you want to encounter when you are out of the country is to get into trouble and to have no access to important numbers of people who can help you out. There is no guarantee that you won’t be in trouble in Spain; you may run out of batteries, without a place to plug in your charger, or you may lose or break your gadgets while you’re there, and the last thing you want to be is stranded and without any idea who to call for help.
It’s very important as well to make sure that you’ve done your homework about the locals that you will come across with in Spain. Little cultural exasperations are worth researching so that you won’t do anything to offend anybody. In Spain, this is considered very rude and offensive; they wouldn’t understand why you are unable to stand up and walk over instead of tossing whatever it is you want to give somebody. In the US, it’s also normal for people to use the word “stupid” quite casually like “I feel so stupid in this outfit”, but in Spain, people consider the Spanish translation of the word to be stronger in nature than its English counterpart; it’s better to stay away from using the word, especially when referring to the locals or their culture.
There are many online resources to help you find your way around Spain and make your way back home safe and sound as well.
How to block service and commerical phone calls?
I recently installed Verizon Fios freedom essentials bundle and I want to get rid of those annoying commercial phone calls I get everyday. I have a cordless home phone and I'm not sure how to block these calls. Anyone know how?
There is the do not call list number listed above, but you can also subscribe to caller id w/ anonymous call rejection. What that is, is when somebody calls w/ a blocked or unknown number they will hear a recording that has them state their name. If they don't, the call won't come through to you, you won't even know they called. If they do when you answer the phone you will hear the recording they made. From there you will have the choice to answer the call or reject it. If you answer, the call will proceed on to as normal. If you reject the call the caller will hear a recording saying that their call has been rejected and then be disconnected without even speaking to you.
