What Is The Best Console For Christmas
With Christmas just around the corner, many children will be asking for a new next gen console this year. But which one should you choose? With the 3 main next generation consoles, the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii, all competing against each other, which one is the right one to get?
I'll start with the Xbox 360. After a price cut during September, the Xbox now costs £130, this makes it the cheapest of the 3 consoles. But, for your £130, you will only get the arcade system which doesn't come with a hard drive or games, so, what about console bundles. As for the arcade system you can get the console, 2 controllers and 3 games for just less than £160. As for the premium console, which comes with a 60GB hard drive, you can get that with 3 games and 2 wireless controllers for £200. And if you are after the best Xbox, the Xbox 360 Elite will set you back £260, but for this you get a 120GB hard drive, 3 games and 2 wireless controllers.
Overall, the Xbox is a great console with many Xbox exclusive games. Also, with a massive online community, it's perfect for any family.
Next, the Nintendo Wii. The Nintendo Wii is a great family console, with a huge selection of family fun games to play. The standard console will cost £180 and for a bundle, which contains the console, 2 controllers, 2 nunchucks and 4 games, £270.
Overall, the Nintendo Wii is a great console, with a wide selection of child friendly games, it's the perfect choice for any family.
The final console on the list is the Playstation 3, this is also the newest next gen console, aswell as the most exspensive. Although the Playstation and Xbox are very similar, the Playstation has one hardware benefit, it features a Blu-ray DVD player. Also, just in a last few days, Sony released their new Playstation Home, a brand new online community for all their Playstation owners.
As for the price of the console, it will cost you around £300 for the standard, 40GB hard drive one. As for a bundle offer, you can get a Playstation with an 80GB hard drive, 4 games for around £300.
Obviously the Playstation 3 is the most exspensive of the 3, but I would not say it's the best value for money. Although the Xbox and the Playstation are similar, the Xbox seems to have a better range of exclusive content.
Finally, I would say that the Xbox 360 is the best console if you're playing solo and for online gaming, but if you are after a more family console, the Nintendo Wii is the best.
